Production from Design to Final Assembly, Including Tests and Trials

The production processes at TATRA DEFENCE are optimized for manufacturing top-tier armored vehicles and specialized military equipment. Our production facilities combine precise technology, modern equipment, and highly skilled personnel. Teams of experienced welders, technicians, and painters work with state-of-the-art materials and methods, ensuring the highest quality and reliability for every vehicle produced. Every step of the manufacturing process – from welding and surface treatment to final assembly – is carried out in strict accordance with military and international standards.

Welding

The welding process at TATRA DEFENCE is designed for working with the highest-quality armored steels – types Armox 440T / 500T and Difender 450 / 500.

We use modern pulsed welders with specially customized software and employ MIG/MAG (methods 135, 138) and TIG (WIG, method 141) technologies.

The welding facility is equipped with positioning equipment with a load capacity of up to 20 tons, allowing work on weldments up to 8 meters long and 3 meters in diameter. All processes are carried out in accordance with ČOS EN ISO 9606-1,2, ČOS 343901 standards and are certified by TÜV NORD.

The result is a precise and robust structure that meets the requirements of the most demanding military projects.

Shot Blasting and Painting

Before each painting process, the surface undergoes shot blasting according to ČOS 8501-1 Sa 2.5, ensuring perfect preparation for the application of coating layers. The blasting booth can accommodate products up to 9 meters in length and 3 meters in width, using GH 40 abrasive according to ISO 11124-3 and a pressure of 7 bar according to ISO 8504-2.

Painting is carried out in modern paint booths and meets military standards ČOS 801001 (6th edition) and STANAG 4360 Ed.4.

We use special military-grade paints based on epoxy and polyurethane resins from manufacturers such as Mankiewicz, Colorlak, Tikkurila, which meet strict requirements for mechanical resistance, gloss, and chemical stability – including resistance to decontamination processes.

We are also capable of painting oversized vehicles, such as STARKOM, and, in cooperation with the Office for State Quality Verification, we ensure that every product complies with the strictest military standards.

Assembly

The final assembly of armored and specialized vehicles takes place in halls equipped with professional fixtures, assembly platforms, and cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 30 tons.

Our assembly workshop, covering 3,000 m², is designed for the efficient completion of even the most demanding projects.

Each vehicle undergoes thorough testing and quality control to ensure that the customer receives a product meeting the highest standards of functionality, safety, and reliability.
